Chi-X Global has hired Steven Silberstein to take on the role of CIO and Gregory E Smith, current CEO of Chi-X Global Technologies, has been appointed vice chairman of Chi-X Global.
Silberstein – described by Chi-X as a “trading technology veteran” - will begin immediately in his new job, which will see him take responsibility for all of the firm’s technology and its coordination between the firm’s different centres and trading participants.
Meanwhile Smith, who will continue in his current role at Chi-X’s technology division, will look at business strategy and commercialising Chi-Tech’s products and services.
Silberstein will jointly report to Smith and John Lowrey, CEO of Chi-X Global, who commented: “With investors around the world demanding more efficient markets, there are more opportunities than ever for Chi-X Global, both in delivering the platforms themselves and in technology provision.
“Steve is an extremely well-respected industry practitioner and is the ideal choice to help us execute on our technology vision.”
Silberstein’s previous role was as a managing director at Lehman Brothers where he was global head of the firm’s prime brokerage offering.
